If you’ve not heard about Microsoft’s Courier project, then you don’t have to worry about this post. But for those of us that have hear about it and were interested in what it offered, it’s a sad day. The Courier was a new approach from Microsoft, with a unique hinged dual screen configuration the Courier would act almost like a book. You could fold it open and then write on a page. But that’s just scratching the surface of what it had to offer.
It doesn’t matter anymore, as Microsoft has put the brakes on that project. They have stated that the technology used in the Courier will find its way into other projects within Microsoft. But what’s that really mean? In short, don’t hold your breath or cash for anything anytime soon.
It seemed like Microsoft had turned the corner and was actually back on their game – Windows Phone 7, Project Natal, KIN, and Courier. All or which offered amazing potential to take the company in a new and different direction. I expect my next laptop/netbook/slate will be Android based.
