I desperately want to defend Windows Mobile anytime it is tossed aside in the press. Windows Mobile 6.X is certainly old but is still very powerful, customizable and well supported. The real problem with 6.X has not been that it was desperate for a new core but that it needed a facelift...badly.

Yes, I want to see an all new version of Windows Mobile, but I am simply saying that 6.X is still a very viable mobile OS and is still powerful put up against any mobile OS.

The changes in 6.5.3 are certainly welcome and are the bare minimum of what was needed. That's the problem.

I get that Microsoft is focussed on 7.0 but it seems like they only left one developer to fix up 6.5. I would have liked to see more than a partial reworking of the OS with what seems to be no consultation with anyone with UI design experience. The look of the buttons at the bottom is horrible, imo. Maybe the function is better but why not make it look like less of a bandage?

Like I said, I get that MS is focussed on WM7 but some of us may not be able to get a WM7 device for a year or more. What a shame that our only choice for Windows Mobile is a half updated one.
