Yesterday, HTC took to the stage in London to officially launch their latest Android powered smartphone – the Sensation. It will be exclusively available in the US from T-Mobile as the Sensation 4G, and on Vodafone as the Sensation. Regardless of the name, you’ll be looking at a lighting fast 1.2 GHz Dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a brilliant 4.3 inch qHD screen display running a 540×960 pixel resolution.

Still not impressed? Ok, how about an 8 megapixel autofocus camera with a dual LED flash supporting full 1080p HD video recording with stereo sound, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 1520mAh battery. The only thing on the spec sheet that brings out the questions is the available memory. The device brags 4GB internal storage with only 1GB being user accessible. We’re not sure where the other 3GB went or why it’s being kept locked away from the user. But not to worry, you can still add an external MicroSD card for more storage – or use the 8GB one that comes with the phone.

When it does ship in the coming months, you’ll find the latest version of HTC’s Sense and it will also have HTC’s Watch application that allows multi-media rental and purchases from the device. It will also sport a newly redesigned lock screen that shows displays real time information from the device, including image gallery, social network friend stream, weather, and more.

Congrats to HTC on another amazing device. The HTC Sensation is truly a sensational device.

Do you Facebook? With over 200 million Facebook users, HTC is betting that some may be interested in a Facebook connected smartphone, and to satisfy that need, they have released 2 devices with a dedicated Facebook button for quick and easy access. The first device – called “HTC Cha Cha”, is typical messenger style device with a physical keyboard below the screen. The second device – called “HTC Salsa”, is your typical touch screen device, very similar to the HTC Legend in styling.

Both phones are running Android with HTC Sense with a 5 megapixel camera, 512MB RAM / 512MB ROM, Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/Edge, Dual-Band HSPA+, Bluetooth, Wifi, A2DP for wireless stereo headsets, MicroSD, and 600 MHz processors. In fact, besides the obvious screen size and physical keyboard, the only other difference is the battery size. The Salsa has a slightly larger battery at 1500 mAh, versus the Cha Cha at 1250 mAh.

I’ve always been a big fan of the messenger style of device, I like that physical keyboard for getting through tasks quickly. So, I’m naturally drawn to the Cha Cha, but at the same time, I would love to see a larger screen on that device, and I’m not sure if I need a dedicated Facebook button. What’s wrong with placing a shortcut on the desktop that allows you to launch your favorite app quickly? I’m sure that adding a Facebook button will be a draw for some. However, I’m more likely to by this for the form factor alone.

And if you’re a Facebook user, don’t forget to Like us – http://www.facebook.com/MobileJaw

HTC pulled the cover off their all new tablet – the HTC Flyer featuring HTC’s Sense today at Mobile World Congress. HTC is yet another company adding an Android based tablet to their device line up. However, the Flyer brings HTC’s special sauce to the table – The Sense UI. They’ve also added a special stylus for use with their Scribe software enabling you to quickly take notes on the tablet.

The Flyer is very similar to the Legend in that they both are encased in a aluminum housing. In fact, the Flyer looks like a large Legend from the back. With a 4000 mAh battery and a 7-inch screen, the Flyer weights in at 415 grams. In comparison, the iPad (with WiFi and 3G) weights in at 730 grams, and the Samsung Tab weights in at 380 grams. So the Flyer is pretty much in line with what you would expect from the 7 inch tablet space.

The Flyer also sports a powerful 1.5 GHz Qualcomm SnapDragon processor, 3.5mm headset jack, 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, MicroUSB, MicroSD, and 16/32GB of internal storage. It’s going to ship with Android 2.4, but will be upgradeable shortly after to Android 3.0 – Honeycomb.

And if word on the street is to be believed, it’s coming to Telus in Canada in early Q2. In the ever expanding tablet market, HTC may have a winner, if the price is right.

The full press release is below, along with a couple more pictures.

HTC Unveils HTC FLYER™, The First Tablet With HTC SENSE™

Aluminum unibody design with touch and pen interaction make HTC Flyer unique

First tablet with HTC Watch™ video service, HTC Scribe™ Technology
and OnLive® cloud gaming

BARCELONA, SPAIN – Mobile World Congress – February 15, 2011 – HTC, a global leader in mobile innovation and design, today announced its first tablet, the HTC FlyerTM. HTC Flyer blends HTC’s trademark design language with an all-new HTC Sense user experience that has been reimagined for the tablets. Using an intuitive and innovative approach to tablets, HTC Flyer combines natural touch and pen interaction. HTC also announced HTC Watch, a new connected video service that will debut on HTC Flyer tablet, and will collaborate with OnLive, Inc. to launch the first cloud-based mobile gaming service on a tablet.

“Clearly, smartphones have transformed our lives but as we observed how people use smartphones, computers and other technologies, we saw an opportunity to create a tablet experience that is different, more personal and productive,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “We are progressing down a path as an industry when people will no longer be in a single device paradigm, but have multiple wireless devices for different needs; this is the direction we are moving.”

Encased in a sleek aluminum unibody, the HTC Flyer tablet exudes the iconic style and build quality HTC is known for. It is also ultra-light, weighing as little as a paperback book, and compact enough to fit in a jacket pocket only. With a seven-inch display, lightning fast 1.5Ghz processor and high-speed HSPA+ wireless capabilities, the HTC Flyer tablet is perfect for those who have been waiting for a tablet that is both compact and powerful.

HTC Sense for Tablet
HTC Sense revolutionized smartphones by placing the person at the center of the experience. HTC Flyer’s tablet-focused HTC Sense experience focuses on surprising and delighting people with its gorgeous 3D home screen. A unique carousel of widgets puts a user’s most important content and information at the visual center of the experience. The HTC Flyer tablet also offers uncompromised Web browsing with Flash 10 and HTML 5.

HTC Scribe Technology
Touch interaction lights up the HTC Flyer tablet experience, but it also offers a groundbreaking pen experience. With the new HTC Scribe Technology on the HTC Flyer tablet, people can rediscover the natural act of writing. HTC Scribe Technology introduces a wave of integrated digital ink innovations that make it easy and natural to take notes, sign contracts, draw pictures, or even write on a web page or photo.

HTC Scribe Technology on the HTC Flyer tablet transforms traditional note-taking into smart note-taking by integrating natural onscreen writing with thoughtful and integrated innovations. A feature called Timemark enables you to capture the audio of a meeting in line with your written notes, so tapping on a word in your notes instantly takes you to that exact place in time in the audio recording of the meeting. Notes are also integrated with the calendar so when there is an appointment reminder you are automatically prompted with an opportunity to begin a new note or in the case of recurring meetings, to continue where the last meeting left off. In an industry first, the HTC Flyer tablet also features built-in synchronization with Evernote, the world-leading notes application and service.

Streaming Mobile Movies with HTC Watch
The HTC Flyer tablet premieres HTC Watch, HTC’s new video download service. The HTC Watch service enables low-cost on-demand progressive downloading of hundreds of High-Definition movies from major studios. The intuitive, natural design of the HTC Watch service makes it easy to find the latest movie and video content, while advanced technology on the back-end enables instant playback over the HTC Flyer tablet’s high-speed wireless connection.

Mobile Cloud Gaming with OnLive
HTC takes mobile gaming to an entirely new level by being the first mobile device in the world to integrate OnLive Inc.’s revolutionary cloud-based gaming service. OnLive is leading in the home gaming market by letting people play top video games on their televisions and computers without the need to buy expensive gaming hardware or software. When integrated fully, the OnLive service will enable customers to pipe the OnLive service through the HTC Flyer tablet’s broadband wireless to their television sets, or let them play directly on the tablet. When integrated on the HTC Flyer tablet, people can play a variety of games, including hits like Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood™, NBA 2K11 and Lego Harry Potter™.

Availability
HTC Flyer will be available to customers globally during Q2 2011.

About HTC
HTC Corporation (HTC) is one of the fastest growing companies in the mobile phone industry. By putting people at the center of everything it does, HTC creates innovative smartphones that better serve the lives and needs of individuals. The company is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange under ticker 2498. For more information about HTC, please visitwww.htc.com.

This week HTC released their latest smartphone based on Google’s Android platform – the HTC Hero. Unlike the Android devices we’ve seen from HTC thus far, the Hero device comes with the Android version of TouchFlo 3D, and it’s called Sense. Sense is focused on putting people at the center by making your phone work in a more simple and natural way. If you’ve ever used TouchFlo on a HTC Windows Mobile based device, then you know what to expect from Sense.

Besides the new interface, HTC has packed this device with some really cool features, like an anti-fingerprint screen coating, or how about the Teflon coating for a more durable white surface. Still not cool enough for you? How about a 5 megapixel camera, 3.2 inch HVGA display, gravity sensor, Quad band radio, 528MHz processor, 512MB ROM / 288MB RAM, and of course, a GPS.

As with previous Android devices, the Hero still carries the big chin at the bottom edge of the device. There are mixed feelings about this design. From my limited exposure, it doesn’t appear to be an issue when holding or typing on the device. From a purely looks point of view, I would rather not have it. But it had little effect on my usage.

The Hero will be available across Europe in July and then in Asia later in the summer. HTC has promised a “distinct” version will be made available in North America later in 2009.
