Ilium Software Busts Out eWallet 7.0

Ilium has just released their latest update of eWallet. Version 7 offers a number of new features and changes, including how you buy the application. With version 7 you can use eWallet on any supported device at no extra cost. As Ilium says on the release page – Because when you buy or upgrade eWallet, it’s for you, not your device. As someone that changes devices on a fairly regular basis, this is a welcome change.

I was lucky enough to be involved with the beta of version 7. As such, I have been using the new version for a while now and the new interface has really changed how I use the application. No longer will the window close when the wallet times out. Now, the app stays open and running, but the wallet locks. While this may sound minor to some people, the time saved from clicking through to re-launch the application adds up. Now it’s very easy to select the wallet and unlock it. Ilium Software has been celebrating their 12th anniversary this week. All week long they’ve been offering a discount on all of their products. You can save $12 off any purchase over $12 – how cool is that?! Head on over to this page on their website for all the details and to select what products you want to buy. I’ve been using eWallet since forever. It’s a great app, just like all of Ilium’s applications, and I recommend it to everyone.

And my apologies to Ilium (especially Julie) for not posting this earlier. They sent me all the details last weekend, but I’ve been so busy this week that I totally forgot about this until now. I hope the celebration has been great!

Ilium Updates eWallet to Version 6.1

While I was away on vacation, one of my all time favorite and must have applications was updated – eWallet. The latest version is now 6.1 and is a free update for people with version 6.0. If you’re running the older version 5, then there is a small upgrade fee. I’ve been running a private beta version for a good couple weeks and it’s been solid and bug free for me.

So what’s new? Well, there’s a number of enhancements in this point release. A more exhaustive list can be found over here – although, I’m pretty sure that’s not the complete list. Anyway, the cool new features that I care about are the improved performance on a Smartphone device. It’s now worlds easier to navigate and edit fields from your non-touch screen Windows Mobile device. Ilium has also added the ability to customize the fields in your card – so you can have multiple hidden values now.

And if none of the improvements here seem like enough reason for you to upgrade, that’s cool. Ilium is working on 6.2 and maybe that one will have the features you’ve been looking for. Speaking of features, I would love to see a seamless over-the-air file sync for my eWallet file. I realize this doesn’t have to be done by Ilium, but it’s a killer feature that I would love to see. Besides that, I think it would be awesome to have a Windows Sidebar gadget that lets me quickly open a wallet. What kind of features would you guys like to see added to your eWallet?
