Microsoft may not have a booth on the show floor at CES this year, but that hasn’t stopped them from make an announcement. At the 11th Annual J.P. Morgan Tech Forum, Microsoft’s Windows Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer Tami Reller announced that Windows 8 has sold 60 million licenses to date. That number includes both sales to OEMs for new devices as well as upgrades licenses. Terri also indicated that this is the same sales trajectory that Microsoft saw with Windows 7. The good news doesn’t end with just Windows 8 licenses either. Microsoft has certified more than 1,700 systems for OEM partners to run Windows 8 and Windows RT. And finally; Since opening the Windows Store the number of apps has quadrupled and Microsoft has now passed the 100 million app download mark.

Windows 8 and Windows RT as still very new too – having just been available for a little over 2 months. There’s still a lot more time and computers to sell in 2013.
