Well, here’s some surprising news – BGR is reporting that the Dell Venue Pro will be coming to Rogers Wireless in Canada sometime next month. To date, the Venue Pro has proven to be an allusive phone and one with a few technical issues as well. Currently it’s only available on the T-Mobile network in the US, which runs on a different frequency (T-Mobile and Wind Mobile share the same network frequencies / Bell, Telus, Rogers, Fido, and AT&T all share the same frequencies), so an unlocked Venue Pro would run on AT&T’s network in the US.
What has me concerned the most, is that the Venue Pro has been anything but successful. Dell has had problems with the WiFi radio, as well as issues around the battery. That’s not good for a new device running a new mobile operating system. If Dell manages to resolve those issues, the Venue Pro stands to be a killer in the smartphone market, the full QWERTY keyboard slides down from the screen instead of to the side like many other devices. Of course, the 4.1 inch AMOLED screen doesn’t hurt either.
I’m looking forward to hearing more about this upcoming device – and hopefully Dell will have fixes in place for this model when it starts shipping!
