Have you recently purchased a used Samsung Focus S, or perhaps you’re getting ready to sell your Focus S. Before you do anything, you should take a couple minutes and wipe the phone of any personal information. As with all Windows Phones, you can always do this from the Settings / About screen. Just tap the “reset your phone” button and the device is as good as new.
If you don’t want to power up the phone just to wipe it, or if you have fallen victim to an unfortunate circumstance and the phone will no longer finish booting, you can still force a hard reset from the hardware buttons. To do this, start with the phone powered off and follow these simple steps:
- Press and hold the volume down, power, and camera keys
- When the phone vibrates, release the power key but continue to press the camera and power down buttons
- When the phone displays see a Format prompt on the screen, select the Windows Flag to continue, or the Back button to cancel
Assuming you pressed the Windows Flag, you now have a device that’s clean and fresh.
