With nothing more than a tweet, Microsoft changed the name of their new and upcoming mobile operating system. It’s not a radical change, but it certainly makes a difference.
In February, Microsoft announced their new mobile operating system, the next version of Windows Mobile, would be available holiday 2010 and it was to be known as Windows Phone 7 Series. The addition of “series” was a surprise to many as it became a much bigger mouthful to say and it didn’t really add anything description value to the name. As of April 2nd, the “series” name is no longer. Moving forward it will simply be Windows Phone 7.
