Chris actually has a multitude of reference articles at http://forums.pocketpcfaq.com/viewforum.php?f=58&sid=b4eac27400ff5cd2998903bd2abe3701
I'm still reviewing some, but even the older articles have relevance.
I do agree with you concerning the older programs, but I have had very good luck with SKTools in removing duplicate files and contacts. They have recently upgraded their utility with a function called shadow cleaning. The program runs in the background, so I no longer even have to schedule the removal of any duplicates.

@Bryan - Yeah, Chris wrote a pretty good article on how to deal with all the headaches around sync. Doesn't it scare you that the article is dated 2003!? A lot of those problems are still around today. :(

As for the dup removing tool, I'm concerned about running a 5 year old application against Outlook 2007. Who knows what has changed between then and now and what damage it might cause. I would prefer if Microsoft could actually solve the problem. Guess I shouldn't hold my breath, eh?

100% agreement, I use SKTools to remove any duplicate contacts and to clean up any junk kicking around. I also happened to be cruising the web and found this article, it's old, but it has a link to a free Outlook duplicate remover.
