CES: Eye-Fi Announces The All-Powerful Wireless SD Card
Last year at CES, I had a chance to meet-up with Ziv Gillat, Vice President of Business Development and Co-Founder of Eye-Fi, at CntrStg. It was my first exposure to the Eye-Fi card and I was blown away by the power and freedom this would bring to my camera. Shortly after CES I picked up an Eye-Fi of my own. While I loved the automatic upload functionality that this provided, I found it annoying that I would have to, at some point in time, pop out the card and insert it into my laptop just to wipe out all the images to create some free space again. The images had already been transferred but Eye-Fi didn’t delete them off the card.
Today’s announcement from Eye-Fi has changed all that! The new Eye-Fi Pro X2 cards bring larger memory footprint – 8GB, Class 6 performance for faster reads and writes, and something called Endless Memory Mode. This feature will automatically make space available once the picture or video has been uploaded off the card. That’s just awesome! I can’t wait to get a new card and put that one to the test. Thanks Eye-Fi.
The full press release can be found after the jump.
Mobile Jaw is Heading to CES
It’s that time of year again, the time of year that every red-blooded gadget geek looks forward too – CES! Once again, I am attending CES.
I’m hoping to build some new relationships and get hands on with some new devices. The show doesn’t officially start until Thursday with the keynote and Digital Experience show on Wednesday night. I’m already on the ground here in Vegas and getting ready for a busy couple days.
Unfortunately, there is no CntrStg this year. At least not like last year and I’m really going to miss that. It was a great place to meet other bloggers, and have discussions with interesting tech companies. And of course, the amazing bandwidth. They are hosting and exclusive dinner with DisplayLink, which I will be attending. So that’s pretty cool, however I am looking forward to their full return next year.
If you have any burning questions or anything that you want me to try and find an answer to, please post it here and I’ll do my best to try and get you that answer. I can’t promise anything, but I will try.
That’s it for now from beautiful Las Vegas!
